  Stress Management Interventions
Happy, confident, stress-free employeesThe greatest asset of any organisation is it’s people. Happy, confident stress-free employees are more productive than those who are suffering from the effects of stress. Work Related Stress has the potential to have a great financial impact on business.the total cost of stress-related illnesses across the European Union, according to the most recent survey, is €13 billion.

Employee Advisory Resource offers complete stress management interventions which are based on the principle that prevention is better than cure.

Stress/Well-being Audits

Primary Level:
Stress/Well-being Audits

The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989, requires employers to put in place systems of work which protect employees from hazards which could lead to mental or physical ill-health. There is also an obligation on employers to draw up a written risk assessment of all known hazards, including psychosocial hazards, which might lead to stress.

Employee Advisory Resource’s bespoke stress/well-being audits can be used both as part of a general health risk assessment or purely as an organisational stress audit. They help organisations to:

  • Identify the sources of the stress in the workplace
  • Establish which groups of employees are more at risk
  • Evaluate the severity of the risk
  • Use best practice to reduce the level of exposure
  • Benchmark against other industry surveys
  • Identify cost-effective remedies to address any problems

Secondary Level: Stress Management Courses

Employee Advisory Resource’s stress management courses are secondary interventions, designed to help employees and managers improve their ability to cope effectively with stress.

Our courses can be tailored in content and can vary in duration, from hour-long ‘taster’ workshops to two-day courses. Examples of some of the topics available include:

  • Managing pressure in the workplace
  • Positive strategies for managing stress
  • Managing work/life balance
  • Keeping pressure positive in an environment of change
  • HR’s role in stress in the workplace
  • Keeping calm in a crisis
  • Alternative therapies, such as herbal medicine, yoga and transcendental meditation

Tertiary Level: EAPs

A recent Labour Court recommendation held that ‘work-related stress is recognised as a health and safety issue and employers have an obligation to deal with instances of its occurrence which may be brought to their attention’.

A commitment to an EAP is a significant demonstration by an organisation of their belief in the importance of supporting their employees and providing a ‘Duty of Care’ legislation.
